A classic Mercedes is getting a huge makeover, thanks to a large widebody kit and a massive V12 engine to give it monstrous power.

Famed American tuners Renntech are the ones at the forefront of this endeavour, as they take the Mercedes-Benz SEC coupe and reimagine it.

Just a handful of these will be built, making them ultra-exclusive, and they will feature the same power you’d find in a famous supercar.

Power will be nearly up to 700hp, but it’s the widebody kit that really allows this new car to stand out.

V12 power under the hood of the classic Mercedes-Benz SEC

Just 12 of these incredible cars will be produced.

While the new design catches the eye, it is arguably the V12 engine that’s the talk of the town.

The SEC has an M120 V12 engine, the same found in the Pagani Zonda supercar and Mercedes CLK GTR.

In the new V12 SEC, the 7.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine makes 660hp and 650lb-ft of torque.

Enthusiasts will be rejoicing in the fact that there is also a manual transmission with the Mercedes.

Carbon-ceramic brakes provide the stopping power.

As well as the big engine, each Mercedes will have had a huge restoration before it is delivered to the customers.

That will ensure each one is in tip-top condition.

Away from the power, it’s the bodywork that catches the eye at first glance.

A new widebody transforms the Mercedes

A new widebody kit has been added to the SEC, and Renntech said that this will help enhance the aerodynamics of the Mercedes.

On top of that, the new kit should improve the cooling and high-speed stability of the coupe.

The original car was built from 1979 to 1981, offering an S-Class in sedan and coupe styles.

During that time, various engines were available, from an inline-five, an inline-six, and a V8.

But no V12 was ever available, until now.

Before that, a V12 S-Class wasn’t available until the third-generation W140.

The aim of Renntech is to deliver the first of its 12 cars in December 2027.

No doubt the value of these models will increase over time, due to their rarity and exclusivity.
