Footage of a Concorde launching into a test flight has made its way online, and it’s making people emotional.

It’s been more than 20 years since this iconic plane was retired, but it still holds a special place in the hearts of aviation fans.

So it’s always a treat when some unearthed footage makes its way back into public view.

But this footage was something else – it had people feeling emotional.

This Concorde footage had people feeling emotional

Footage of this Concorde test flight was shared to YouTube back in 2013 by Gordon Roxburgh.

In the 13 years since, it has accumulated more than six million views, speaking to the popularity of the plane.

The comments section is full of people heaping praise onto the plane, which is pretty commonplace for any media relating to the supersonic jet.

“I can’t believe this majestic piece of art is gone […] I think without a doubt the Concorde should be brought back, despite its enormous prices and costs,” one fan wrote.

“It’s worth paying because it brought our spirits up. What a legendary aircraft.”

“Concorde, a combination of art, technology and beauty. Leonardo Da Vinci would have been envious…” another gushed.

But this wasn’t the only takeaway that people had from the video, as one point near the video’s conclusion resonated with people.

As the plane’s nose began to lift back up, it almost looked like it had a face – and a sad one at that.

“Looks like it’s about to cry, don’t cry, the museum volunteers will take good care of you,” one person wrote.

“It looks like a sad dog when it has landed,” another echoed.

“It looks sad as if it knows it’s going to be retired…” a third commented.

While it’s certainly sad that it was retired, perhaps the plane can find some comfort in the fact that it’s so dearly missed after all these years?

There are a lot of fond memories attached to this plane

There’s a lot of sentimentality surrounding the Concorde, and we can’t say we’re surprised.

It’d certainly be nostalgic for the British Airways staff members who were treated to a champagne formation flight.

And then there were these 100 wealthy Americans who got to celebrate the same night three times.
