This Oregon man lives in a Tesla Model X in Mexico, and now he’s revealing all the costs that come along with it.

He’s been living full-time out of his Model X, charging on solar, and stretching every dollar as far as it can go.

A lot of people will know the costs associated with owning a Tesla in the US, but he’s showing us exactly how far a tight budget can go when you go south of the border.

The numbers reveal a nomadic lifestyle that’s extremely efficient, and the total costs might just knock you over.

What it’s like living in a Tesla Model X

This man from Oregon, a full-time EV nomad named Sandro, has spent the past two months driving across Mexico in his Tesla Model X, which he affectionately calls Beluga.

He started in Baja before driving into Sinaloa, then moved through Nayarit, Jalisco, Michoacán, and then into central Mexico.

To make it even more challenging, Sandro is giving himself a very small budget.

Sandro is allowing himself only 500 pesos (around $29.40) a day in total to get around Mexico.

Each night on the road costs him just 150 pesos, or roughly $7, for a campground that includes a kitchen, bathrooms, a social area, and a safe space for travelers.

After accommodation, he has around 350 pesos left to cover food, water, and daily essentials.

His biggest asset is his custom solar panel setup.

He says his setup is very basic and says almost anyone could do the same.

He has 32 panels mounted on his Model X, providing up to 260 watts in ideal conditions.

On a good day, that gives him 7 – 10 kilometers of free range, plus enough power to run his fridge and small appliances.

Mexico’s heat pushes the system to its limits too, but it’s kept him self-sufficient almost every day.

Cost of living out of a Tesla in Mexico

Food is where Mexico becomes a budgeter’s paradise.

Coffee and fresh cactus cost 20 pesos, which is just over one dollar; juice costs pocket change, and two quesadillas for 60 pesos ($3.50) show how far daily spending can stretch.

Even with snacks and a dessert mango, he stays well under his target and his homemade dinner of grilled nopal and avocado brings the day’s total to just 452 pesos.

By the end of the challenge, he proves that living out of a Tesla in Mexico isn’t just possible but surprisingly affordable.

With solar power, local markets, and careful spending, he kept costs low while traveling through one of the most scenic places in the world.
