The Tesla diner on Route 66 in California offers people burgers in Cybertruck boxes and robot popcorn, but not everyone’s impressed.

The EV brand has opened a new retro-futuristic diner in Hollywood. And as you’d expect, it comes with interesting hi-tech elements like super-speedy Tesla charging and the Optimus robot serving you snacks.

It’s been open for about a week now, and the reviews are in. But it seems that despite a lot of the cool elements, not everyone’s impressed.

Alongside the robots and superfast charging, you also get long lines in blistering Hollywood heat, flavorless chicken, and a weird Tesla EV class system.

The Tesla diner isn’t impressing everyone

After a rough quarter for Tesla, it seems that it’s shifting focus from its EVs towards some new money-making schemes. They include the robotaxi service in Texas and the Tesla diner, which just opened in Hollywood.

The retro-futuristic diner looks like a diner you’d find in an episode of Black Mirror. And while it’s been very popular over the past week, the reviews are in, and not everyone is happy.

While the whole experience looks like it should be very cool. You can watch movies, eat burgers out of Cybertruck boxes, and get popcorn from robots. But the lines are long.

A TikToker by the name of Jessica Palmadessa waited three hours to get inside the diner. When she and her friends finally got in, they decided that the food was not good, saying:

“The burgers and fries were mid.” Ouch.

“Both the waffle and the chicken is very dry”

Another food reviewer by the name of Natelo decided to try some of the food from the diner. While he liked some elements of it, he described the chicken as ‘dry,’ saying it didn’t have ‘much flavor to it.’

He liked the Tesla Burgers, served in Cybertruck boxes, but described the hot dog as ‘disgusting’.

Other reviews have people waiting up to five hours in line, or longer if they don’t own a Tesla EV themselves.

Someone in the comments of a review of the Tesla diner wrote:

“I don’t get it, five hours just to eat glorified McDonald’s? I don’t see the appeal or the value.”

People who parked their Teslas at the diner to eat were warned about not overstaying their welcome and paying extra congestion prices for charging their batteries. But the non-Tesla drivers get the short end of the stick.

Only time will tell if the Tesla Diner’s popularity will continue or it’s just a flash in the pan following a poor earnings meeting.
