Jay Leno is asked what he thinks of the Ferrari Luce and he has a very simple answer

David Lee, a famous Ferrari collector, asked Jay Leno to give his opinion about the Ferrari Luce, and the answer was interesting.

And it was interesting because it was simple.

Jay Leno famously doesn’t have a Prancing Horse-badged car in his collection.

But what does he think to their latest offering?

The reason why Jay Leno doesn’t own a Ferrari

Jay Leno has one of the world’s largest private collections, as well as the the world’s most googled car collection.

And yet, he doesn’t own a Ferrari.

As he explained in an episode of the Road to Success Stories podcast, this is not because he doesn’t like the cars.

“There was a certain elite feeling to [being one of their clients] and I didn’t like it,” Leno explained.

He also explained how he’s never felt like that with any other company.

“When I bought my McLaren, they asked me if I was going to track it, and when I said no, they said ‘then you don’t need [the upgrade], save yourself 20 grand’. It felt nice. I felt like a customer,” Leno explained.

Now, given what he said about the Ferrari Luce, we’re going to guess this car isn’t going to change his mind about owning a Ferrari.

“It’s not that it’s unattractive…”

David Lee, one of the world’s most famous Ferrari collectors, asked Jay Leno what he thinks about the Ferrari Luce, and his answer was simple.

“It looks like an electric car, it just doesn’t look like a Ferrari. It’s not that it’s unattractive. I think with these cars people are just used to being like ‘Wow! Look at that car!’,” he said.

He didn’t bash it, though, as he also acknowledged that customers and fans sometimes take a while to digest what’s been done.

“It’s like Corvette owners when they dropped the round taillights, [and they said] ‘oh it’s not a Corvette’.”

Even so, based on what he said, it’s fair to assume he isn’t the Luce’s biggest fan.

But not for the reason you think.

“I like a Ferrari that’s a sports car, and a station wagon is a station wagon. [But] a station wagon that’s half a sports car that also can carry a surfboard… I don’t like cars to do a lot of things. I like cars that do one thing,” he said.

So while he didn’t exactly praise it like James May did, he certainly didn’t criticize it on its merits.

He just said that maybe it won’t work for him.
