A Delta pilot has become an unexpected internet star after his humorous and heartfelt in-flight chicken announcement took social media by storm.
Passengers couldn’t help but laugh when the pilot casually explained that their safe arrival wasn’t just company policy, but a personal obligation.
And what exactly was so important? Well, he needed to get home to help care for his eight backyard chickens.
The viral moment has since racked up thousands of reactions online, with many calling him the ‘MVP – Most Valuable Pilot’.

The Delta pilot needs to take care of his chickens
In the now-viral video, the Delta pilot is seen standing in the cabin aisle, addressing passengers with a confident yet comedic tone.
“Once again, I can assure you that we are going to do things absolutely 100 percent safe, secure, and get you there,” he began, before explaining why punctuality really mattered.
“I am married – 33 years. My wife, four kids, two dogs, eight chickens. She is tired of going out and taking care of those chickens in the cold.”
He went on to say, “She wants me to get home Friday morning. If I don’t get home by Friday, she is going to kill me. So, I can assure you, we are going to get there.”
His comments were met with laughter from passengers, and the video’s caption: “Delta Air Lines pilot has his priorities straight'” only added to the charm.

It’s a very human moment, like when this pilot went to great lengths to surprise her dad on her flight.
The chicken announcement went viral
The post has since gone viral, garnering more than 800,000 views and prompting a flood of delighted responses.
“Love this. I always like my pilot to reassure our safe arrival,” one user wrote.
“This would make me trust them 600 percent. I, too, must arrive home safely for my chickens and piglets. LOL,” said another, praising the chicken announcement.
One particularly amused viewer even suggested that airlines offer a booking option to choose pilots who give ‘reassuring pep talks before take-off’.
Of course, flying is incredibly safe, and things like turbulence really shouldn’t worry you too much, especially since pilots are extremely well-trained.
