Denza and Chopard made a 1-of-1 EV worth $815K that's packed with jewelry and it even charges scarily fast to top it all off

Denza, a premium brand under BYD, just created a one-off Z9 GT Chopard Edition, and the price is mad.

The vehicle was built for two reasons.

The second one was marketing, obviously, but the first was one was a lot more noble than that.

Even so, the price makes it more expensive than nearly any new Ferrari you can buy.

Denza is on the rise

BYD is busy launching one sub-division after the other, and Denza is the one they’re mostly focusing on at the moment.

They hired ex-James Bond Daniel Craig as brand ambassador, and they also showed up at Cannes Film Festival, which is where this one-off was unveiled.

Based on the Denza Z9 GT, an electric shooting brake with 960 horsepower that’s surprisingly cheap in China, this one-off is called the Chopard Edition.

And, unlike the base model, it wasn’t cheap at all.

On the outside, you’ll find Chopard gold accents and gold wheels, and as for the interior, Chopard added amethyst-themed trim pieces, gemstone-style controls and even a gold decoration around the infotainment screen.

Not that it matters, this being a collector’s item and not really an everyday car, but we should point that this still does 0-60 in 3 seconds, and it has a range of 800 km – or around 500 miles.

Also, it charges from 10 percent to 70 percent in just five minutes.

The price tag is still unbelievable

We should preface this by saying that this will likely remain a one-off because a production model is very unlikely.

However, the price will still make your jaw drop.

The thing is, this was designed as a 1-of-1 collectible for an auction that supports global programs for AIDS research.

The noble intent justifies and explains the price.

When the gave fell, the winning bid was €700,000, equivalent to $815,000.

That’s hypercar territory.
