A DIY five-rotor supercar has made over 1,000hp on the dyno thanks to its giant turbo, with its owner gunning for even more power from the rotary engine.
David Mazzei has built the one-off Mazzei Formula Five, a supercar that combines a Superlite SL-C kit car body with a five-rotor engine that he has made himself.
This remarkable creation makes over 1,000hp, and naturally, it makes some incredible noises too, thanks to the size of the engine as well as the additional turbocharging.
Mazzei released some brilliant footage on YouTube of the car undergoing dyno testing, showing off how wild the supercar is.

What is under the hood of the five-rotor supercar?
Mazzei has had plenty of rotary engine experience, and even put a four-rotor engine into a Mazda RX-7 FD.
This, though, is a whole new level of crazy.
The custom supercar has an incredible five-rotor engine that makes sounds similar to a V10 Formula 1 car.
Strapped to the massive engine is a 106mm Garret G57-3000 turbocharger.

Thanks to its rotors and the massive turbocharger, this car has made 1,120hp on the dyno.
It is little wonder that with such power, the engine produces an incredible soundtrack.
A YouTube video showed the car on the dyno, as well as this incredible machine spitting flames from the exhaust.
The car is fully custom-built
Mazzei designed the Formula Five as a true custom-built car.
As well as the turbo and engine, the car also has billet housings and a six-stage dry sump oiling system.
Incredibly, there are titanium race mufflers to keep the noise down.
We can only speculate as to how loud the car is without those!.
The car most recently ran with just 12.5psi of turbo boost on the dyno.

If they crank it up, Mazzei has said that the car could produce 1,500-1,600hp in total.
That is a ludicrous amount for a home-built supercar.
The Tilton twin-plate clutch has lots of work to do, given the car makes 806lb-ft of torque.
A five-rotor supercar might have seemed virtually impossible to many of us.
But David Mazzei has proven that such outrageous creations can come to fruition.
