Recent footage from Tesla’s Texas factory has got the internet buzzing, as a prototype of the Tesla Cybercab was spotted in action.
The sleek, futuristic vehicle was captured on video driving around the Gigafactory site, sparking fresh speculation about the next big leap in Tesla’s autonomous future.
This comes amid growing curiosity about when Tesla will officially reveal its first purpose-built robotaxi.
And if this latest sighting is anything to go by, that moment may be closer than we think.

Road testing for the Cybercab has commenced at Tesla’s Texas factory
Longtime drone operator Joe Tegtmeyer shared the video on social media platform X.
In the video, he spotted a Cybercab driving on Giga Texas’ South River Road to the West side.
According to Tegtmeyer, this is the first Cybercab that he had seen driving in Tesla’s Texas factory in a while.

The Cybercab also appears to be manually driven, which is a surprise, given that early renderings of the robotaxi featured no steering wheel or pedals at all.
When is production slated to begin?
The Tesla Cybercab, often referred to as the Robotaxi, is perhaps Elon Musk’s boldest bet on autonomous transportation yet.

Designed to eventually operate without a human driver, the Cybercab aims to become Tesla’s highest-volume EV ever.
Musk even projected an ambitious annual run rate of two million units, which is especially optimistic given how the company’s Cybertrucks haven’t exactly been flying off shelves.
While there isn’t an official release date yet, the company has stated that the Cybercab will start production in Q2 2026.
Interestingly, the Cybercab isn’t the only Tesla vehicle that fans are excited to see.
The Tesla Roadster is perhaps the most-awaited of them all, having been five years since the original launch date.
While the beloved convertible has been mired in controversy, Tesla has finally confirmed that an ‘epic’ demo of the Roadster will take place before the end of 2025.
