A Dubrovnik Audi A8 has been spotted rocking a license plate that’s taken possible inspiration from Max Verstappen and it’s causing a stir online.

Images of the car appeared on a Reddit Subreddit thread, and it instantly led to some comparing it to a certain song about the reigning Formula 1 world champion, Max Verstappen.

There were plenty of jokes online about the plate that was spotted on the streets of Dubrovnik.

And while the connection to Verstappen might not be immediately obvious, once it’s explained, it’s impossible to ignore.

Why the license plate points to Max Verstappen

The car’s plate simply reads ‘DU DUDUDU’, which might not sound like much at first glance.

But, ironically it’s the opening to a song about F1 champion Max Verstappen.

The song is called 33 Max Verstappen, created by DJ duo Carte Blanq in collaboration with Maxx Power.

It features a now iconic part that simply goes ‘Du-Du-Du-du, Max Verstappen.’

That line has been associated with Verstappen more and more over the past two years.

At his recent Italian Grand Prix victory at Monza, Ferrari fans cheered Verstappen.

They also sang the line as he walked onto the podium.

Verstappen himself has seen the funny side, and maybe this driver in Dubrovnik is a big fan.

Incredibly, it even has the correct number of ‘Dus’ as well.

What else could have inspired the Dubrovnik Audi A8 license plate?

There are other possible explanations for the Audi A8 license plate.

One user said, “The first two digits of a reg in Croatia are the city it was registered in (common are ZG – Zagreb, ST – Split, DU – Dubrovnik).”

He then followed that up, saying the car’s owner ‘just ran with it’.

One comically suggested they could be a fan of the band The Police.

It is funny in itself that such a simple license plate has caused so much discussion and so many laughs.

Such a simple combination of letters created something that sent people into a frenzy.

We would love to know what the actual inspiration behind it was.
