New footage shows a hybrid-electric plane – the Elctra EL2 – take off and land on a super short 150-foot-long runway.

The hybrid-electric STOL (short take-off and landing) aircraft recently completed its first public demonstration, showcasing its ultra-short take-off and landing capabilities.

The aircraft is capable of taking off and landing in so-called Ultra Short Acess Points without the need for a conventional runway – and could be a real game changer for the aviation industry.

“These demonstrations showcased breathtakingly short takeoffs and landings and pinpoint landing capabilities with the power to transform aviation as we know it,” Electra’s chief executive Marc Allen said.
