An Emirates Airbus A380 grabbed aviation fans’ attention this week after a YouTube clip captured the giant jet executing an unexpectedly smooth short takeoff.

A short takeoff is when an aircraft becomes airborne using far less runway than normal, usually thanks to lighter weight and higher thrust settings.

For an A380, which is one of the largest passenger aircraft ever built, pulling this off is especially impressive.

While the A380 don’t usually perform short takeoffs due to its size, the video from YouTube channel

offers a rare look at the superjumbo’s performance potential.
