YouTuber and racer Emelia Hartford recently discovered a barn find Plymouth Superbird NASCAR muscle car that had been abandoned, and Goodyear Corporate got in touch to ask if they could see it.

The American YouTuber had rescued the legendary car after it had been sitting in a barn for 27 years, and had it restored in the spirit of those who used to race in NASCAR.

Goodyear Corporate then got in touch, asking if they could have it tested at its high-performance proving grounds.

Naturally, Hartford jumped at the opportunity to see just how fast this car now was.

The Plymouth Superbird NASCAR has had a major restoration

Despite being abandoned for 27 years, Emelia Hartford and her team had done wonders to transform it into a 200mph missile on wheels.

Her aim wasn’t for it to just look fast, but also to go fast as well.

As it turned out, her video certainly showed that she had achieved this.

The muscle car had evolved from a rusty shell to one finished in gorgeous Goodyear blue.

It now has the classic logo across the bodywork; the car has been truly transformed Superbird.

Looking good was only half of the barn find project, however.

The next step was to see just how hard the Superbird could be run on track.

After practice runs in a Shelby Mustang, she then took the Plymouth out onto the circuit.

How did the NASCAR perform out on the proving ground?

Hartford’s first run was gentle, to try and warm the muscle car up and see how it handled.

On that initial run, she got the car up to around 113mph, which was very good for a first attempt.

The next run was, however, even more incredible.

Hartford got the Plymouth Superbird NASCAR up to a top speed of 206.4mph.

Other than popping out of third gear, the Superbird looked like it reached that speed with ease.

One of the Goodyear people then told Hartford the top speed for a Superbird was around 220mph.

That gave her a new target to aim for.

She did take the car out again to see if it could go even faster than on her second run.

Amazingly, she got the Superbird up to 210mph.

That was where she and her team left it after this run.

But we do wonder if Emelia Hartford could get the muscle car up to that tantalising 220mph…
