This expert revealed how one habit is ultimately destroying your engine without you knowing.
It all stems from an influx of a certain temperature, which, if it occurs just once, can cause copious amounts of damage.
Don’t fear, though, as this car whisperer has you covered and has offered some golden advice.
To save yourself hundreds of bucks, listen up, as this knowledge will stay with you forever.

This one habit is causing damage without you realising
When it comes to running a car, each of us has our own habits that we’ve either developed or picked up over the years.
One expert, though, has revealed one pattern that many people never even register as harming their car.

We’re talking about seeing that temperature gauge rise, and once you’ve seen it go back to a normal level, assuming everything is fine.
Just one event of overheating can damage an engine and lead to blown head gaskets, warped heads, and, in extreme cases, engine loss.
TikTokker chrisfrombeachside explained how newer cars can’t handle heat in the same way as older engines.
“When your car overheats, even briefly, you’re not just stressing the cooling system; you’re stressing every system attached to that heat,” said the expert.
But what parts are really bearing the brunt of it?
“Plastic tanks and fittings soften, and head gaskets lose clamping force, and seals that were already aged get pushed past their limit.
“An overheat often cooks rubber seals, valve stem seals, O-rings, and coolant seals, making them hard and brittle,” Chris continued.

Once is enough, and the expert reccommends to get your engine checked over.

Here’s what to do if your engine overheats
Even after one occasion, your overheated engine needs to be examined, as Chris explained that it’s not a refill event, but rather an inspection event.
This means getting the cooling system pressure tested and also inspecting areas such as the radiator for hairline cracks.
Weak plastic and rubber should also be swapped out to avoid complete failure.
After all this has been done, the system can be restored, flushed out, and refilled with the correct elements.
After watching the video, drivers had lots of other advice to offer.

“Anything past 220 is causing damage to your vehicle,” said one user.
“I would also suggest an oil change in addition,” said another.
Auto associations also recommend that if you think your car is overheating, you should pull over, switch on your hazards, open the hood, and leave it to sit for at least 30 mins to enable it to cool down.
