F-15 jet spotted being transported on the highway and its actual size is leaving people very surprised

When an F-15 jet was seen being transported along a highway, people were left stunned by its actual size.

It’s one thing to see a jet zipping around the sky at incomprehensibly fast speed.

It’s a whole other matter to see one of them being ferried down the road alongside cars.

There’s no doubt about it – this really puts things into perspective.

We’ve seen some remarkable things being transported along highways

Highways are usually quite mundane, as commuters make their way from Point A to Point B.

But every now and then, we see something quite remarkable making its way along the highway.

Perhaps the most attention-grabbing is the 90-ton Blue Origin rocket that was videoed mid-transit.

And then there was the 81-foot-wide building that was moved along a freeway in North Dakota.

So there is a precedent for this.

Whether or not a F-15 trumps the above cases, we’ll leave that for you to decide.

Seeing the F-15 Eagle heading down a road will put its true size into perspective

The clip in question was shared to Instagram by @theaviationaddict, and showed an F-15 jet travelling down a road.

All around it, everyday traffic continued to move along, as if there wasn’t a huge plane alongside them.

The F-15 jet measures 63.8ft long, with a 42.8ft wingspan and a height of 18.5ft.

Those figures already sound sizable, but there’s only so much you can get from seeing numbers on a screen.

To see this plane in the metal really gives you an appreciation for how gargantuan it really is.

Weighing in at 31,7000Ibs while empty, it tips the scales at 68,000Ibs when it comes time for takeoff.

The fact that the plane dwarves the truck carrying it speaks volumes about the magnitude of the F-15.

The cars around look minute in comparison.

When not being transported along highways, the F-15 is a beast in the sky

The F-15 Eagle was designed as an all-weather tactical fighter, built to gain and maintain air superiority. 

First introduced in 1972 and flown the following year, it quickly earned a reputation for speed, power, and sheer presence.

And we’ve certainly seen the F-15 in action over the years.
