Current FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem is set to retain his seat as the F1 leader for the next four-year term, as reports suggest no other candidate has locked in a campaign team.
As a former motorsport racer, Sulayem was elected as FIA President in 2021, becoming the first non-European elected into the position.
In a tenure that his thrown up its typical spanners, Sulayem has managed to steer the F1 ship to the product we have today and announced his plans to retain his seat earlier this year.
Now, reports suggest that he is set to keep his position as all other electoral candidates have fallen short of getting worldwide support.

Current FIA President set to retain seat amid lack of opposition
The FIA President is one of the most important people in the F1 universe, impacting everything from car design to track layouts and individual race rulings.
As Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been reigning for four years, the time has come for the new President to be decided, taking us over to 2029.
But after receiving support from the likes of ex-CEO Bernie Ecclestone, Sulayem appears to be the only candidate in the running.
As per a report from Planet F1, the three other candidates (Tim Mayer, Laura Villars, and Virginie Philippot) have all fallen short in getting supporting vice presidents in each region, which makes them ineligible to run.
Each candidate has yet to submit their VP lists, but only Sulayem has received backing from a VP in South America.

Unless this changes before October 24, Sulayem will automatically be locked into his seat for another four years.
Interestingly, the FIA approved new rulings earlier this year that allowed the president – in this case, Sulayem – to block candidates from running against him. This doesn’t appear to have been enforced this year, but could be a ticket to keeping his seat in future campaigns.
Is this good or bad?
Current FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been on both ends of praise and wrath from the community in his tenure.
Most notably, the Lewis Hamilton vs Max Verstappen era looms over Sulayem’s head like a grey cloud, after his championship-defining safety car rules were put under scrutiny.
But, vocal hints at a return to V8 engines have fans purring louder than the motors themselves – and Verstappen.

The Sulayem ear has been divisive, but F1 appears to be stronger than ever before.
