ChatGPT is quickly becoming a mechanic’s best friend, just as this Florida man proved as the AI software played a key role in fixing his ‘undrivable’ Corvette Z06.

It will never be able to hold a wrench, and only a true driver knows what’s really under their hood, but AI is playing a big part in how cars are being developed and fixed.

Having already been adopted by the biggest manufacturers, now even one-man DIY armies have begun using it to help fix their biggest issues.

That’s exactly the process for YouTube car expert Samcrac, who has been fixing his ‘undrivable’ Corvette Z06 for months, and has now turned to ChatGPT to overcome a massive issue.

YouTuber uses ChatGPT to fix unsolvable Corvette Z06 issue

As one of the leading AI platforms out there, ChatGPT has been greased up with some decent vehicular knowledge.

Individuals have consulted the platform to help tune cars.

Others have gone a step further and allowed it to write scripts to overhaul a race car, just 24 hours before the checkered flag.

Now, Samcrac has confided in ChatGPT to help fix his ‘already rebuilt’ Corvette Z06, which has already proven to be more than a wrenchache.

In a recent upload, the YouTuber was faced with an issue surrounding the throttle.

Diagnostic codes had been disabled, and his Corvette Z06 was taking a monumental effort to get rolling, burning far too much smelly fuel and then bunny-hopping down the road.

So, he called in ChatGPT.

The online mechanic asked the program to run a new tune on the car, in which it made a huge adjustment to the airflow tables and fueling systems.

Immediately, he found success. The new tune saw the Chevy sports car roll off with ease, and he was finally able to drive the car properly for the first time since buying it.

He continued to provide feedback about the performance until ChatGPT was able to provide a solid tune, even helping after a new overheating issue occurred.

“The cool thing is, since that was a data log drive when we started overheating, I sent that data log into ChatGPT. It noticed it and said we were getting hot in the last few minutes of the drive,” Samcrac said.

“The difference between the tune that this car came with and the first revision that ChatGPT gave us was amazing.”

How is AI helping car manufacturing?

While some executives have claimed that AI cannot design good cars, such as Mercedes Chief Designer Gorden Wagener, other brands have been using it in different ways.

Particularly, BMW is using an integrated artificial intelligence system for quality control, and Bugatti has been allowing AI to get hands-on with the shaping of the upcoming Tourbillon.

For the most part, ChatGPT is becoming a renowned tuner, and thats exactly how Samcrac used it to get the Corvette Z06 rolling again.

For the YouTuber, his next job will likely be updating the bodywork, as the endless internal work seems to be nearing the end of the road.
