A Florida man found his dream car abandoned, a rare 3000GT VR4, and started a car restoration project to bring it back to life.

After years apart, he located the exact model he once owned, still carrying the same modifications and VIN.

Despite sitting in a garage for over two years, the car was largely intact and for sale.

The emotional journey that followed turned into one of automotive redemption.

This story comes from a video by Tavarish, who originally purchased the 3000GT VR4 in 2019.

It was the nicest car he had ever owned, with rare factory options and personal touches added over time.

But when he relocated to Florida, financial pressure forced him to sell it to help fund his new home.

Although the decision made sense at the time, he never stopped thinking about it.

Years later, driven by nostalgia, he began looking for another one. Instead, he discovered his exact dream car abandoned, listed online with the same VIN and setup.

The car hadn’t run in over two years and sat neglected in a private garage in Dallas.

The car still had its custom wheels, stock stereo with aux input, and even the spark plug wires he installed.

It had gained just 5,000 miles since he sold it, but the condition had deteriorated.

The tires were mismatched, the paint had faded, and the bumper he had once replaced was chipped.

Still, the connection was immediate, and he wasted no time in making the purchase.

Firing it up again was both nerve-racking and surreal.

The 3000GT VR4 struggled to start, and driving it revealed several issues, including stiff suspension, turbo boost climbing higher than normal, and a heavy clutch.

But underneath those flaws was a car filled with history and heart.

Even though the ride was bouncy and the handling uneven, he couldn’t stop smiling.

He’s now setting out on a full car restoration, using a borrowed shop to make it reliable and drivable once again.

The goal isn’t perfection, it’s to turn this used sports car into something that can be driven every day.

He plans to keep unique features like the all-wheel steering intact and address mechanical concerns without stripping its identity.

Reclaiming his dream car abandoned for years is more than a mechanical project.

It’s a personal mission to reconnect with a meaningful part of his past.

With the 3000GT VR4 back in his hands, the next chapter of this car restoration is already in motion, and he has no plans to let it go again.
