Marketplace is where the auto enthusiasts find parts

Facebook Marketplace is frequently scrolled by auto enthusiasts

The resell site provides the capacity for all manner of car parts, accessories, and even vehicles to be snapped up.

Many bargains can be found online, for example, a Lamborghini concept car lookalike, alongside the world’s smallest car.

But this bargain buy might be one of the best that we’ve ever seen.

Take a look at this plane engine, all bought with one click on the social media site.

This plane engine was a bargain

YouTuber Jimmy’s World managed to find a plane engine online for just $19,000.

He scoured Facebook Marketplace to find it.

It was all for one reason. He had the aim of rebuilding an original 1947 Cessna 120 – named Penelope. And it could well save him around $10k if it’s in working order.

The purchase was a gamble entirely, as he bought the engine having not seen it.

The engine required inspection

Such a big purchase, even with its certification, was already eight years old, so it needed to be checked thoroughly.

So Jimmy got some help to do just that

The first thing they needed to do was remove parts to get to the cylinder.

Once dismantled, the cylinder could also be examined to see what the inside was really like.

“Looks new inside,” said Jimmy as parts were slowly removed one by one.

However, there was a slight catch – it still needed to be sent out after the parts were disconnected and dismantled.

After the engine was checked over by an external party, Jimmy and his helper got to work re-assembling the engine.

They got it both cleaned and oiled up to make sure it was all ready to be properly put to the test.

Overall, the risk was definitely worth the reward with this gamble, don’t you think?
