Florida man reveals 'the truth' about used Teslas after buying Model S super cheap

This YouTuber from Florida bought not one but two Teslas – namely a Model S and a Model S Plaid – at auction.

Both were obviously used, although both were also described as being in good condition.

But there was a lot more going on beneath the surface.

As a result, a few months and miles later, the YouTuber was ready to share the truth.

Recurring issues with used Teslas

Sam, the Florida YouTuber behind the SamCrac channel, bought two Teslas, a regular Model S and a Model S Plaid at auction.

These cars can be cheap to buy but, in his own words, they can be “money pits”.

Window regulators, trunk actuators, and charge port doors tend to go wrong all the time in older Model S vehicles.

When they do, you’re in trouble.

All in all, the YouTuber had to spend thousands of dollars fixing a long list of potentially ‘minor’ issues.

Sam notes that while the older Model S may look like a bargain upfront, it can quickly drain your account with frequent failures.

The right guy for the job

We should probably point out that SamCrac is particularly good at this.

His entire YouTube channel revolves around his ability to buy heavily damaged cars for peanuts and then fix them up.

A while back, he bought a dead Porsche Cayenne for just $700, and he fixed it for almost nothing.

On another occasion, he did the same thing with an Audi RS7, which was actually worth a lot more than he’d anticipated due to a couple of secret mods that came with the car.

He also once managed to get a Tesla Model S P90D for about half the price.

In fact, the only time it didn’t go his way was when he found a dead McLaren, and he couldn’t buy it.

Maybe that’s going to be his next project…
