A Florida millionaire made sure his 209ft superyacht was the perfect place for his pet pooches and even created an on-board puppy park.

When it comes to their beloved four legged friends, some owners do not play around.

This was clearly evident when Florida millionaire James Berwind was designing his luxurious yacht.

He made sure his two dogs, Brio and Scout, would feel right at home on the yacht, and even designed their own garden area to enjoy.

The Florida millionaire even named the yacht after his pooch

When it comes to designing a one-off superyacht, people take inspiration from all over.

A German billionaire spent $29 million on his 146-foot Top Gun-inspired superyacht, while Steve Jobs designed his vessel with work and family in mind.

And in 2019, Florida millionaire Berwind had Dutch shipyard Hakvoort create a superyacht with his pet dogs at the center.

Berwind, his partner, and their dogs spend a lot of time on their yacht, so they wanted to make sure it was as comfortable for their pets as it was for any human guests.

Not only was the superyacht inspired by his dogs, the 209-ft vessel has even been named Scout after one of his beloved pets.

The millionaire owners of the yacht, had a custom-designed ‘Puppy Park’ outdoor space that is located on a private terrace connected to the master suite.

The Puppy Park serves as the dog’s personal garden when they’re out on the water and offers them a safe, enclosed environment.

Scout has also been completely puppy-proofed with every bulwark enclosed so there’s no chance of the dogs accidentally going overboard.

The attention to detail is second to none, and includes carpeted treads on the stairs so the dogs don’t slip, while even materials used to create the boat have been especially selected to be pet-friendly.

This isn’t the first dog-friendly superyacht out there

Berwind isn’t the only million happy to splash the cash to make sure their dogs are comfortable aboard their superyacht.

Master shipbuilders Feadship recently revealed a specially-designed, pup-friendly 260ft vessel that was built for a mystery billionaire

Special features of the superyacht designed for dogs include widened bulwarks and walk-around decks, plus a ‘grass-filled relief station and shower’.

Sounds ideal for some salty seadogs to enjoy.
