The police force in Florida seized a Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray sports car, before promptly adding it to their fleet.

The C8 Corvette was seized with the help of a Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force (DEA), and the best thing about it was that the police didn’t need to pay a penny.

The force avoided any backlash for the repurposing of the sports car.

And there’s no two ways about it, it’s striking in its new police colors.

How the DEA seized the Chevrolet sports car

The car was seized by the DEA after it was involved in a crime. It was then transferred to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Once the FHP got their hands on it, the Corvette was repaired and repainted before it hit the road in its new State Trooper colors.

And to make things even better, this was no ‘normal’ C8 Corvette, it was a 70th Anniversary edition.

The Corvette now wears a gloss black and tan color scheme.

The car is fully integrated into the FHP’s fleet, complete with blue flashing lights on the front, side and top of the windshield.

Repurposed police cars can sometimes be controversial

It isn’t unusual for a police department to face backlash after repurposing a powerful car.

Some Americans feel it is a waste of money when law enforcement adds sports cars, muscle cars, or even supercars to their fleets.

But the beauty of this C8 is that the FHP didn’t have to pay a single dollar for the car.

It’s going to be a difficult cop car to escape from too.

The Chevrolet C8 Corvette has a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood, making 495hp and 465lb-ft of torque.

The top speed of the C8 Stingray is 194mph, with a 0-60mph time of just 2.9 seconds.

It’s highly unlikely that the Florida police will be able to achieve crazy speeds on US roads, but it is highly likely that its rapid acceleration will allow it to catch criminals and bring them to justice.
