Florida man who bought flying boat finally flew it into water to see if it works

This guy went to Florida to test a ‘flying boat’ – an experimental amphibious plane known as the ‘Aventura II’.

It’s an interesting vehicle, halfway between an aircraft and a watercraft, and it’s supposedly capable of flying but also floating, like amphibious planes do.

The plane is not in what you’d call mint condition, but it works.

Well, sort of…

An experimental flying boat… that doesn’t work properly

The aircraft in question, registered in Florida, is a two-seater fixed-wing single-engine plane.

It is categorized as an amphibious plane, which simply means it can take off and land on water.

It looks good, but you can tell it’s almost like a man-in-shed kind of vehicle due to the way it looks and the way it works.

Jimmy Webb, the man behind the Jimmys World YouTube channel, had a hard time trying to fix the aircraft.

Among other things, he had to replace the landing and strobe lights, which were way too dim, fix the autopilot selector and the landing gear.

He also had to fix the tailwheel, which was bent.

But Jimmy knows his way around aircraft, which means the plane is now perfectly capable of flying above the skies of Florida.

If the name rings a bell

The name Jimmy Webb (or Jimmys World) might ring a bell because this is the guy who famously bought Elvis Presley’s jet at auction for less than $250,000.

Right after buying it, he managed to fire it up, but he quickly realized fixing it would’ve cost about $5 million, and that was the good news.

The bad news is the plane was never going to be able to fly again for legal reasons.

This is why he decided to turn it into an RV.

It still cost him a lot, but he got it done, and he actually did it in record time.

Believe it or not he’s now actually using it.

He even drove it to the McDonald’s Drive Thru once.

He probably won’t be able to do that with the experimental amphibious aircraft, though.
