The first time an Airbus A380 landed in America, people could hardly believe what they were watching.

At LAX, the world’s largest passenger jet touched down just before 9:30am on March 19, 2007, and the reactions were instant.

In this retro footage posted to YouTube by crankyflier, you can hear the awe. “Oh, that is a big, big beast,” said the person filming. “Look at that thing… unreal.”

For the crowd, it wasn’t just a plane landing – it was a spectacle, and the moment the US finally met the monstrous A380 in person.
