Ford once created the ultimate muscle car, but then made it disappear.
The car appeared in the swinging sixties but only lasted a short amount of time.
Muscle cars were all the rage at the time, but the success of that particular car simply wasn’t meant to be.
The engine provided power and speed, but was discontinued not long after its initial release.

Ford is known to get adventurous when it comes to design. The manufacturer even recently let some Chinese students design a new Mustang.
In fact, Ford even introduced a nuclear-powered car in 1958, but today it’s still highly impractical.
But there was one model back in the ’60s that was simply everything a muscle car should be and more.
Enter the 1960-1961 Ford Starliner, it was a two-door, fastback version of the well-known Ford Galaxie.
It had a distinctive look with taillights in the shape of half moons and even reportedly shared its name with the Starliner by Studebaker, plus an airplane by the name of Lockheed’s L-1649A.
According to the hobby db database, the base engine in 1960 and 1961 was the aging 292 CID Y-block V-8, with the optional 352 motor that was originally introduced in 1958.
The engine improved as the model progressed over its life span – the exterior and feel of the car were impressive.
While the Starliner was impressive, it sadly only had a short run and was replaced in 1962 after being discontinued in 1961.
It was then outshone by the Galaxie.

One savvy YouTuber recently found a 1965 Ford Galaxie on Facebook Marketplace, but it seemed too good to be true until the nightmare final check put the deal in jeopardy.
So the Starliner wasn’t meant to be, but other Ford classics were much more successful, securing the brand’s reputation.
