An American who switched from a gasoline pickup truck to the Ford F-150 Lightning has recounted his experience on Reddit.

The F-150 Lightning is the all-electric version of Ford’s iconic pickup, and it’s the first EV this proud owner has ever had.

They offered a comparison of one month of owning the pickup versus owning their previous one, a 2017 F-150 Raptor.

It shows how quickly some who were once committed to gasoline can be won over by electric vehicles and their benefits.

The perfect replacement for the Raptor

The truck’s owner said that the new F-150 Lightning EV was the ‘perfect replacement’ for their 2017 F-150 Raptor.

After 20 years of owning a V8 or V6 truck, being able to recharge the truck at home was a ‘game changer.’

What made the Lightning owner more convinced by the EV was the poor 15MPG that his Raptor averaged.

Thanks to its electric drivetrain, the Lightning’s range is much greater.

Another big winner for the F-150’s owners was how much they enjoyed the driving experience of the Lightning.

They were full of praise for the truck, saying it was the ‘best F-150 ever’ in terms of its comfort, speed, and practicality.

The owner also said how impressed they were with its fully independent suspension.

The Ford F-150 Lightning will be put to the test

They only have to drive around 30 miles on average daily.

However, the poster said they will soon put the truck to the test, as they’re planning a long road trip with the truck.

Planning for that has resulted in them mapping out longer refueling stops.

There will also be some range estimates for the pickup during the journey.

That will definitely put their range anxiety to the test. But the user says the truck is so good that it’s worth that little bit of worry.

It’s road trips that previously stopped this owner from buying an electric vehicle.

Range anxiety is a big problem for many, with a lot of would-be EV owners concerned about being unable to recharge their vehicle on the go.

But as this F-150 Lightning owner has shown, you can overcome this and enjoy the benefits of electric propulsion.
