In a stunning collision of eras, this man has created a modern Formula 1 rat rod runner from a 1930s Ford Model A.

Known as the grandfather of all cars, the Ford Model A paved the way for every vehicle we now know.

But thanks to modern technology and the rat rod community, there is no reason why it has to stay a bygone vehicle.

Now, one person has taken the iconic Ford Model A and turned it into a new Formula 1 race car, and it could be the best revitalization the car industry has ever seen.

This Ford Model A rat rod is a modern-day race car

Modern manufacturing has completely left the Ford Model A behind, even though it is one of the most important vehicles ever made; a side-by-side with the Cybertruck shows just that.

But just as people have begun to look towards how we can move on from the Tesla sci-fi pickup truck, others have been revisiting history and pulling the Ford Model A out of the archives and back onto the front page.

One of these nostalgic DIYers is Instagram user rickyboada, who owns a rat rod Model A that is a phenomenal piece of art that wouldn’t go amiss on a race track in 2025.

The 1930s Ford Model A has been warped into a JDM Formula 1 car thanks to a Honda S2000 engine and transmission package.

It’s a stark contrast from most rat rods, which usually opt for a V8, but who needs convention? After all, this is a revival of an icon; it has never followed procedure, and shouldn’t simply fall into line.

The car has been turbocharged and fitted with a racing spoiler, although its power output and speed aren’t common knowledge.

The king of rat rods

This is certainly one of the best-looking rat rods we’ve ever seen.

While some people might prefer the rusty brown appearance of this 1932 Ford Model B, which speaks to its old-world history, there’s no denying that the Model A looks sublime in its blue-green waistcoat.

“Reliability on this car is unmatched! This thing will start and run every time. All the good turbo noises too,” said rickyboada on Instagram.

The car has appeared at a number of meets, especially Cars & Coffee get-togethers, but is never far from the road.

You’d be hard-pressed to find another 1930s vehicle that looks so natural on the roads today.

At the prime age of 95, it’s fantastic to see life in the old dog.
