A Ford mechanic couldn’t believe his eyes when somebody turned up driving a 100-year-old Ford Model T.
The Ford Model T owner actually brought the car in for a service, which brings us on the question of whether you can actually service a 100-year-old car.
The short answer is yes – it can be done.
But there are a few things to bear in mind.

What a 100-year-old Ford Model T feels like to drive
This car is over 100 years old.
It left the factory in 1915, and it’s still running, exactly 109 years later.
In a TFLclassics YouTube video, the owner revealed some of the biggest challenges when driving a Model T, and some of those things might surprise you.
For starters, the Model T isn’t easy to drive.
It has three pedals, one for the clutch, one for the brake but the third one is actually reverse.
The throttle is operated by hand.
It is also very slow, with a top speed of 20 or 30 mph at best.
But it is endlessly fascinating.
Maintaining a 100-year-old car
When servicing a car as old as the Model T, there are a few things to bear in mind because some of the components or processes are different.
An oil change in a modern car, for example, is very different when compared to an oil change on a Model T.
But in general, from a mechanical perspective, the car hasn’t changed that much since its creation.
A gas-powered car still has pistons and cylinders and so on.
This explains why there are people who drive the same car for decades.
There’s a guy who drove the same exact car for 77 (!) years and, fun fact, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has one of the last remaining Model Ts out there still in service.
