Ford has responded to a strange rumor that Tesla and Elon Musk had acquired the company.

The rumor mill is always churning out something new, and this week is no different.

Speculation that the company had been bought by Musk began to circulate last week.

It’s not clear where the story came from, but it found its way to the higher ups at Ford.

What did Ford say in response to these Tesla rumors?

As reported by Teslarati, Ford put out a statement putting the rumors to rest.

The company’s statement was short and to the point: “We don’t have much to say here other than the story’s totally false.”

Tesla has acquired other companies in the past, but primarily for batteries and wireless charging.

To date, they haven’t purchased a fellow automaker.

Certainly not one with 100 years of history like Ford.

Where did the rumor originate?

It’s believed that AI generated YouTube videos may be the culprit behind these baseless stories.

AI-created clips have also been responsible for rumors that Tesla was developing a phone.

But Musk recently confirmed that it wasn’t totally off the table.

While appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience, the CEO said he’d look into the project if Google/Android and Apple began censoring apps.

Musk told Rogan: “Tesla is in a better position to create a new phone, that’s not Android or iPhone, than maybe any company in the world.”

“But, it’s not something we want to do, unless we have to or something… If Apple and Google/Android started doing really bad things, like censorship of apps or being like gatekeepers, in a bad way, then I guess we’d make a phone.”

When it comes to Tesla, rumors are nothing new.

There’s been a lot of talk about the highly anticipated Tesla Model Y ‘Juniper’ which has reportedly been spotted in various spots around the world.

The Robotaxi was also surrounded in mystery until it was unveiled in October.
