Hot off the back of a Mustang-filled 2025, Ford is set to reveal a brand-new, road-legal sports car in January, and they are keeping the details firmly under wraps.

It’s been a solid year in the sports genre for Ford.

The launch of the Mustang GTD was one of their best releases in years, given that previous EVs had been quite divisive.

The legendary American brand is clearly pushing forward after returning to its prime, and it is now set to create a completely new sports car that will honor the brand’s motorsport legacy.

Ford set to expand its sports car fleet with new, unknown

Already, 2026 is set to be a massive year for Ford on the sports and racing front.

A return to Formula 1, in collaboration with Red Bull, will see the brand put its engineering excellence to the test.

While new additions like the Mustang RTR and Shelby Super Snake-R will see the respective American muscle series pushed to its absolute limits.

Now, using the Red Bull Formula 1 2026 car reveal showcase as its platform, Ford has hinted that a new road-ready sports car will be debuted.

Taking to a press release, Head of Racing, Mark Rushbrook, said:

“Fans worldwide will also get an exclusive sneak peek at an all-new Ford Racing production road car.”

How do we know it’s going to be a sports car?

We already know its labs are cooking up quite an assault on the roads in the next two years. To start with, there’s a brand-new affordable EV truck set to rival the undercutting Chinese alternatives.

And there are improved models for the F-150 Lightning range on its way.

So, what’s to say that this new car isn’t going to be another pickup or SUV that will continue the goal of regaining its second-place sales podium from Chevrolet and have nothing to do with racing podiums?

Well, Rushbrook said as much in his statement, claiming that ‘racing’ is at the heart of the new vehicle.

“[It will be] a testament to how deeply we’re integrating our racing innovation into the vehicles you drive every day,” he said.

“The racetrack is our ultimate proving ground, fast-tracking developments that will soon be under the hood and in the chassis of your next Ford.”

The car is set to be revealed on January 15, 2026, as the Red Bull Formula 1 car will also be showcased with its all-new powertrain.
