Ford SUV fights with lightning and comes off a winner
The American off-road terrain cars have been flirting with nature’s wrath for decades.
That was only heightened by Oklahoma-based tornado wranglers in Twisters (featuring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones), which started a dangerous trend of driving into wirlwinds.
But this latest battle with the elements has seen a Ford SUV take on a lightning bolt in Williamson County, Illinois.
The Sheriff’s office took to Facebook to provide an update on a Ford Edge that had been hit by lightning.
Three passengers were inside, all of whom came out unscathed.

The family of three inside the SUV revealed that they heard a massive gunshot-like sound as the car immediately shut down and filled with smoke.
The Ford SUV appeared to take the massive blow like a pro.
While the electrics were instantly fried, and the rear bumper exploded with damage to the exhaust, the car remained largely intact and protected the passengers inside.
No injuries were reported by the passengers and the Ford Edge was towed away.

It’s a lucky escape for the three passengers, but it’s also reassuring knowing that cars like this will have your back in the most unfortunate of circumstances.
The aptly-named Ford F-150 Lightning has also proven its worth under extreme weather.
Cars getting hit by lightning is quite a freak accident, although aircraft are hit a few times each year, such as this British Airways Airbus A320 on its way to London Heathrow.
