This Ford van underwent a total transformation as it was turned into a six-wheeled mini semi.
When you think of a 1967 Ford van, you’re probably imagining something akin to the Mystery Machine.
But this custom totally defies expectations.
And it does so in the best possible way.
What’s different with this Ford van turned mini semi?
Sitting upon a bespoke frame, this truck hosts a mid-mounted 351 Windsor V8, roaring to life through stacks mounted behind the cab.
This six-wheeled truck was a passion project for 14 years, using a fabricated frame and bodywork sourced from a Ford Econoline.
There’s a whole host of interesting features on this truck, featured on BringATrailer.
That includes rear-hinged front doors, a windshield visor, air horns, and West Coast mirrors.
At first glance, it is strange to see a van looking so…shortened, for lack of a better word.
But something about it just works.
When the body is tilted forward, the engine underneath is given its big reveal.
On the inside, reclining bucket seats match the door panel inserts with a black-silver color scheme.
A climate control system has been installed, in addition to a dual CD head unit, power windows, and an overhead console.
There’s something really audacious about this whole endeavor that we can’t help but respect.
In the end, this vehicle ended up having 31 bids placed on it, but the victorious bidder snagged it for $42,000.
Many users on the site were delighted at the sight of it.
“I did not have this wonderful thing on my bingo card for today,” one impressed commenter said.
“This is an absolute masterpiece. It literally is to the automotive enthusiast what Starry Night is to an art collector,” another wrote.
“Super happy for the buyer and seller!” a third commented.
You can find no shortage of interesting vehicles on BringATrailer
You can find just about anything on BringATrailer.
The degree to which these cars are unusual can vary widely.
On the one hand, you have vehicles like this 2022 BMW M5 CS that stood out because of their low mileage.
And on the other hand, you get truly bizarre creations like this 1985 Pulse Autocycle – part car, part motorcycle, and part jet fighter.
And we love them all.
