Fully electric BMW M models are on the way with four serious motors, and the German marque isn’t being subtle about what it wants these cars to do.
From 2027, BMW M will launch its first Neue Klasse-based performance models, bringing its racing DNA into the fully electric era.
This is not a gentle transition to EVs but a full send, with multiple electric motors, track-focused tech, and big performance promises.
The marque says the goal is simple: deliver the Ultimate Driving Machine experience, just without an internal combustion engine.

Four motors give the electric BMW M a new performance trick
In 2027, BMW will be bringing racing into the electric sphere, and the headline feature is BMW M eDrive, a setup that uses four electric motors, one for each wheel.
That means power can be controlled independently at every corner of the EV, giving the car sharper reactions, better grip, and more confidence when being pushed to the extreme.
BMW says the system combines the best of rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

When maximum traction is needed, all four motors jump in instantly.
All of this is managed by a new central control system BMW calls the Heart of Joy.
It handles all the technicalities, reacting faster than anything BMW has used before.
The result should be a more precise steering feel, stronger exits from corners, and smoother high-speed driving, whether on the road or the track.

It has serious track potential
BMW is backing up the performance talk with serious hardware.
The high-voltage battery packs more than 100kWh of usable energy and uses 800-volt technology for faster charging and prolonged high power.
The German marque says the cooling and control systems are designed to handle repeated hard driving, not just one fast lap, as it’s built to be pushed to the limits.

The battery also plays a structural role in the car, increasing stiffness and improving handling, which helps explain why BMW is confident these electric M cars will still feel sharp and connected.
In a surprising twist, the brand will also introduce natural fiber lightweight materials for the first time in an electric M model.
BMW says the material offers similar strength to carbon fiber while cutting emissions in production.
The new fully electric BMW M is making it clear these cars are not quiet, soft EVs, they are being built to be fast, ecological, and unapologetically M.
