Formula 1 racing star George Russell has taken delivery of a new $2.7M Mercedes-AMG ONE and has instantly fallen in love with his ‘dream’ car and its absolutely wild engine.

George Russell is Mercedes through and through – cut him open and he’d bleed silver.

Now in his eighth year affiliated with the brand – albeit with a slight hiatus on loan to Williams – Russell has moved from a F3 prodigy to a world-recognized driver and the lead car in Mercedes’ pursuit of F1 greatness.

However, while the Merc F1 car had enough issues to force Lewis Hamilton out, the esteemed brand has a number of supercars in its factory, and a $2.7m AMG ONE has just rolled up Russell’s driveway.

George Russell shows off new $2.7m Mercedes-AMG ONE

Mercedes has a nice habit of providing its celebrity Formula 1 drivers with fancy supercars.

Most recently, the newest recruit, Kimi Antonelli, was handed the keys to an AMG GT 63 S despite being unable to drive it in his home country.

George Russell, however, owns nearly every Mercedes supercar on the market.

His garage is stacked with an AMG G63 and C63, an AMG C63S, an SL63, a GT S Coupe, and a vintage centerpiece in a 1970 Mercedes 280 SL.

Now though, he’s managed to get his hands on the crowning jewel: the coveted Mercedes-AMG ONE.

Worth $2.7m at base value, the Mercedes-AMG One is the pinnacle of manufacturing from the German brand, tuning the life out of a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine in a lightweight F1-derived masterpiece.

Russell was first pictured in the car earlier this week as he was spotted driving it on the streets of his new hometown of Monaco.

It’s not uncommon to see F1 stars cruising around in stellar cars in Monaco, with Fernando Alonso previously showing off a gold Ford GT Heritage Edition there.

But Russell’s new toy has upstaged the lot, and he’s now expressed his admiration for it on social media.

Why his ‘dream car’ has stunned the F1 driver

“MY DREAM CAR,” he wrote on Instagram.

“So honoured to own this car and it’s been a dream of mine ever since I joined Mercedes F1 back in 2017!!”

But his true love is the engine, as he has a personal connection to the under-the-hood work from his introduction to the Mercedes racing team.

“Crazy that the engine is a modified version from our 2015 F1 car – the first ever Mercedes F1 car I drove. What a beast!!!” he added.

The car was specifically designed for Russell, with his signature number – 63 – printed on the side and stitched into the seats.

The interior is also decorated in his F1 helmet hue.

Only a handful of celebs in the world have owned this brilliant creation, but given the personalization and connection between car and driver, there’s no better pairing out there.
