A ‘glitch in the matrix’ has baffled people after a plane spotted not moving in the sky sparked some slight concern.
One confused Chicago resident captured footage of a plane staying spookily still above the clouds and simply had to share it.
The incident has been compared to a ‘glitch in the matrix’, and it’s very clear to see why.
As a result of the video, other aviation enthusiasts have been discussing the real reasons a plane could appear to be hovering like that.

In Chicago, there was a ‘glitch in the matrix’ up above the clouds
Chicago’s O’Hare airport is one of the busiest in the country, with a specially designed runway system that can handle not just a ton of flights, but also keep everything moving in bad weather.
So it’s not unusual for Chicagoans to look up and see numerous big, white, metallic birds moving through the sky, all year round.
But one resident was left stunned by one plane spotted not moving at all. Baffled, they reached for their phone and recorded what they were seeing.

That baffled Chicagoan was TikTok creator tania.draws, and she said:
“Glitch in Matrix? This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this in Chicago either,”
The video she shared was spooky, as the plane looked to be just floating in the air as she drove on the road beneath.
People simply couldn’t believe that this plane, which was not moving, was real
After taking a look at the phenomenon online, other aviation enthusiasts simply couldn’t believe their eyes.

“DUDE, I live in Chicago and have so many videos of this, I see it all the time now it is INSANE,” said one plane fan.
“The matrix is glitched, did you turn it off and on again?” joked another person.
“The actual weird thing here is the clouds above the plane. A right angle with two dots next to it. Doesn’t look natural,” said a third baffled person.
Other people explained that it was actually a kind of optical illusion.
The real reason behind is simply the fact that if you’re moving towards the plane, you are doing so at a different speed or direction, so the plane looks frozen – but it definitely isn’t.
It’s known as the parallax effect, and it turns out our brains are just playing tricks on us.
This isn’t the first plane or floating object to spark the interest of people, either.
For example, the ‘best UFO footage ever’ was captured by a Colombian pilot, and video authenticity was even confirmed.
Plus, we can’t forget the time that the world’s first flying car, the Xpeng X2, was spotted flying over a modern metropolis in China.
For now, though, this plane spotted not moving still has got us gripped, all thanks to an eagle-eyed TikTokker, and you can catch her video at the very top of the story.
