Man turns his grandpa's old station wagon into an absolute monster after it was too slow for his tastes

This man found that his grandpa’s old station wagon was too slow for his liking, so he decided to kick it up a notch and turned it into an absolute monster.

Sure, this car may hide a Corvette V8 inside of it, but it wasn’t running at its best.

Captain Crankshaft wanted to undo its restrictions and unleash its true power.

Would he succeed or would this be a case of ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks’?

How did this YouTuber improve his grandpa’s old station wagon?

Captain Crankshaft laid out a list of what was needed to make Grandpa’s wagon ‘sick’.

The exhaust needed to be loud, first of all.

“This thing has one of the worst designed exhausts I’ve ever seen,” he claimed.

“It’s also pretty annoying to get off since none of these bolts have moved in over 30 years.”

This was definitely a case of slowly but surely.

The throttle body was removed and replaced for better airflow, whilst coolant passages were deleted to reduce intake air temperature and improve performance.

An electric fan was added to improve cooling and reduce engine load – but getting the old mechanical fan out was no picnic.

The inefficient stock airbox was also removed as an open airtake was fitted.

The end result

The ‘cheap’ headers didn’t fit the car, so custom headers were brought in from an expert.

These bolted in much easier than the cheap ones.

With all these added extras, it was time for the long awaited moment – to start up the car.

It roared to life, significantly louder and more aggressive than before.

“It’s alive! It sounds sick!” Captain Crankshaft exclaimed.

“Grandpa is loving it up in Heaven, bro!”

It’s a shame that his grandpa could be around to see it for himself, as it would have made for interesting viewing.

It might have even generated an emotional response, as happened here with this 90-year-old veteran and his Chevrolet truck.

People can get very emotional about their cars – just take a look at this woman when she saw her car after it was cleaned for the first time in 42 years.
