From risky airports to little towns, private pilots can explore angles of the world that drivers aren’t able to.

One creator, though, decided to take things to another level and explore an abandoned airport.

Aviation enthusiast and YouTuber Fly Me To The Fun documented how he found an abandoned airport in North Carolina that was harboring lots of history.

According to the creator, the site was once a dealership with a private runway many years ago.

The catch? The place was actually up for sale.

So, after agreeing on a deal, the pilot flew over to see if he could safely attempt a landing at the derelict site.

The landing was bumpy, but once the creator was on the ground, it was time to explore, and what he found was simply amazing.

A car dealership and a hangar with a plane inside were among the interesting elements that the aviation fan was able to explore.

“It’s like not in good shape, it looks like it’s been vandalized for probably years,” he said when exploring the area that was like the dealership space.

Overall, the place was special, with the site used for repairing cars in pretty good shape. The potential for the location was really endless, with a town and a lake nearby.

The abandoned airport is actually for sale, too, and as they say, time really is of the essence.

“Someone needs to buy this place and take it into its second act,” said the creator
