A YouTuber known for finding the highest mileage EV cars in the world was shocked to discover the longest-running Tesla Model 3 still with an original battery pack.
You would think that after around 300,000 miles of battery degradation would be a major concern.
But that’s not the case here.
So how many miles does this Tesla Model 3 have to be the record holder?

Highest mileage Tesla Model 3 in the world
Sam Evans from The Electric Viking YouTube channel has devoted his time to finding the longest-range EV cars in the world.
Just last year, he found the highest-mileage Model 3 that he – or anyone else, for that matter – had ever seen.
The car in question was a long-range dual-motor Tesla Model 3 with 420,314 miles on the clock.
Plus, the car doesn’t even have a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack. It still runs on its original Tesla battery pack with 2170 battery cells.
However, the car doesn’t even come close to the highest mileage Tesla Model S, which has 1.2 million miles on the odometer.
Regardless, it’s still an impressive feat, as the owner of the Model 3 hasn’t replaced any parts other than the brake pads.
Battery degradation
According to Evans, the Tesla Model 3 models with the most mileage are all long-range variants using Tesla’s 2170 battery cells.
You would think that after so many miles the battery must have degraded quite a lot.
“The average battery degradation for Tesla Model 3s that have driven approximately 200,000 miles is 10%,” said Evans.
We have also seen other Tesla Model 3 owners report the same level of battery degradation.
“EVs are much better value than what we realize because they’re lasting for so long,” said Evans
“There are so many owners of Model 3s in particular who’ve never replaced Motors, never replaced the battery, almost replaced nothing,” he added.
This is on top of saving money on gas as compared to combustion engine cars.
