Hong Kong billionaire, Stephen Hung, is the proud owner of a solid gold cigar lighter that is even more expensive than a Rolls-Royce car.

First of all – smoking is bad for you, and you shouldn’t do it.

However, if you’re going to use a cigar or cigarette lighter for something, you might as well use this instead of a disposable plastic one that only lasts five minutes.

You will need quite a bit of start-up cash if you’re going to buy anything that can match Stephen Hung and his lighter, though.

Stephen Hung and his solid gold cigar lighter

Stephen Hung is known for his love of French history and art, and this lighter is a true expression of his love for the finest that France has to offer.

It’s the world’s most expensive cigar lighter and was crafted by revered French luxury marque, S.T. Dupont.

Known as the Louis XIII Fleur de Parme cigar lighter, it contains 400 grams of solid gold and is encrusted with 152 sparkling sapphires.

The lighter designed by a princess

Many celebrities, such as Elon Musk, are known to enjoy the occasional cigar, and Musk himself is one of the few who could afford to use this firestarter to get things going.

However, he probably doesn’t share the same passion and attention to detail that Hung does when it comes to this sort of thing.

This flame-throwing dog is probably more his style anyway.

The Hong Kong businessman wanted his lighter made by someone with a deep understanding and appreciation of exquisite French design.

That’s where Princess Tania Sophie of Bourbon-Parma comes in.

Yes, this lighter was designed by a princess.

Princess Tania is also a renowned designer and, as a direct descendent of Louis XIII, was the perfect person for the task.

Stephen Hung and Princess Tania’s labour of love

At Hung’s request, Tania and a team of 80 skilled artisans spent six months producing this incredible piece of art.

The one-of-a-kind piece was made in a Renaissance/Baroque style reminiscent of the opulent days of King Louis XIII’s court.

There are 152 sapphires and 400 grams of solid gold, accounting for 41 karats in total.

It has also been verified by Guinness World Records as the world’s most expensive cigar lighter, with a price of $500,000.

That was when it was made back in 2013, and – unsurprisingly – it still holds that title today.

S.T. Dupont even made 31 smaller replicas of the Louis XIII Fleur de Palme that each sold for $15,900.

But, there’s only one real thing, and that belongs to Stephen Hung.

It’s a testament to his wealth, desire for the finer things, and commitment to getting what he wants.

It’s certainly a costly conversation piece, but must give him something to mull over every time he has a smoke.
