The internet is buzzing over a new futuristic car design from Huawei, thanks to a viral video on Reddit showcasing the jaw-dropping Maextro S800.
The clip features a woman effortlessly gliding her way into the car: no keys, no handles, just a few casual hand swipes like she’s casting spells in a sci-fi movie.
From gesture-controlled doors to self-dimming windows, it’s the kind of car that looks like it was designed for the year 2050.
But while some viewers are amazed by the innovation, others think Huawei might have gone just a little too far into the future.

Not everyone is a fan of this futuristic car design
In the video, the woman demonstrated how the Maextro S800 opens with a simple finger swipe across the door, with no physical handle required.
Once she was inside, she gave a subtle wave, and the door obediently closed itself.
With another smooth hand gesture, she dimmed the windows, airplane-style, for privacy.
The cabin also features retractable cupholders, a drink storage compartment, and even fold-out tables that look straight out of a lecture hall.

The whole setup screams luxury tech overload, with the car having more features than basic smartphones.
However, not everyone is convinced that this futuristic car design is something they want.
“I accidentally matched with my ex again on Tinder while trying to dim the windows,” one commenter joked, poking fun at the swipe-heavy interface.
Another said they’d seen similar gesture systems from other Chinese automakers that ‘didn’t work properly’, pointing out the potential frustration of spending five minutes to get into your own car.
Practicality, it seems, is still up for debate.
Others took aim at the design itself, claiming the Maextro S800 simply looks like a more affordable Rolls-Royce Phantom clone.

One person quipped that it ‘probably has a better camera than your phone,’ a tongue-in-cheek nod to Huawei’s smartphone legacy.
Huawei is just one of many Chinese carmakers
The Maextro S800, developed in collaboration with Huawei, represents a new chapter in the company’s growing push into the electric and smart vehicle market.
The car combines cutting-edge AI systems, gesture control, and advanced cabin automation, which are all hallmarks of Huawei’s expanding automotive tech ecosystem.

The company is also entering a market that already has plenty of competition.
Companies like BYD have already overtaken Tesla as the biggest EV seller in the world.
While Xiaomi’s cars are selling like hotcakes.
However, you cannot discount the potential of a Chinese behemoth like Huawei entering the car space.
One thing is clear: Huawei’s Maextro S800 is sparking conversation, and maybe just a few accidental Tinder matches along the way.
