This guy in Illinois spent around $47,000 on a new Volkswagen Golf R but he’s selling it after just a few months.
He bought the Golf last year and drove it for just 4,000 miles.
And because he put so few miles on the clock, he wants to sell it for nearly the price he paid for it.
He says he’s going to put the money towards something a bit more exciting.

This Golf R is no slouch
This 2024 Volkswagen Golf R is fitted with 19-inch Estoril wheels, and it also comes with heated rear seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a 10-inch central touchscreen, and a sunroof.
So it’s well equipped, but it also isn’t the slowest car in the world.
The R is the ‘hot’ version of the Golf, coming in with a 315 horsepower and 295lb-ft of torque, and six-speed manual.

The owner bought it new in Illinois for $47,491 last year, and he’s now looking to get at least $40,000 for it.
It’s a tough ask, but not impossible.
This Golf is worth around $42,000 in the market.

The reason why he’s selling
The owner, who put the car up for sale on Cars&Bids, claimed he’s selling it because he desperately wants a Corvette Z06.
According to him, he had the opportunity to buy a new Corvette Z06 which, with due respect, is understandably a bit more exciting than a Golf.
But then it would be, because it’s around twice as powerful and nearly three times as expensive.
The Z06 has twice as many cylinders as the Golf R – eight instead of four – and it puts out 600 horsepower, not 315.

Even if he managed to sell his Golf for the highest available price, he’d still have to fork out a lot of cash.
This is because the Z06 starts at around $115,000, which makes it cheaper than its big brother, the ZR1, but still a lot more expensive than the Golf.
