Italy is just showing off at this point – because its police cars are unbelievable.
The European nation is known for producing some of the world’s best supercars.
And it now turns out that the carabinieri are putting them to use.
Because Italy has been showing off its new Maserati and Alfa Romeo police cars.

It turns out that it’s not just Dubai that can show off a supercar police fleet.
Because the Italian police have just unveiled some patrol toys of their own.
The Carabinieri don’t just drive around in Fiat 500s, as it turns out.
Because they have just unveiled their latest fleet of four-wheeled hardware.
It turns out that the police have just added a Maserati MCPura to its fleet.
As you might have guessed, the MCPura is the new name for the facelifted MC20.
It now means that Italian law enforcement can deploy some serious speed.
The new MCPura is a carbon-bodied, dry-sumped supercar.
Its ‘Nettuno’ engine, a twin-turbo V6, produces 621hp, as well as 538lb-ft of torque.
It might not be a good idea to try and outrun this rear-wheel-drive masterclass.

Unfortunately, the Carabinieri don’t appear to be planning on re-enacting Need For Speed anytime soon.
Because the new Maserati MCPura won’t actually be used as a highway patrol car.
Instead, it has been kitted out with special equipment ‘for the rapid and safe transport of organs and blood.’
Much like the police’s current fleet of Lamborghini Huracáns, then.

And it isn’t just Maserati pulling up to the blue-and-white party.
Because Stellantis has provided a party piece of its own.
The auto giant has given the police an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
Much like the Maserati, it will also be used for medical transport purposes.

And also like the MCPura, it makes north of 500hp.
It is also more spacious inside, making it a more practical option.
We can certainly dream, though…
