The long-awaited Jaguar concept is finally here, and it's certainly a statement

The new Jaguar concept, dubbed Jaguar Type 00, is finally here.

Unveiled at Miami Art Week, the new concept precedes the first production car made by Jaguar with its revamped and ‘reimagined’ brand identity.

The production version will almost certainly have to ditch a lot of design cues we see here in order to be street legal.

But Jaguar says it’ll more or less look like the concept.

What we can expect from the Jaguar Type 00

The Jaguar Type 00 is a large and extremely long shooting brake with tiny windows and slim headlamps.

Then again, we already knew that from the images of the camouflaged prototype that Jaguar shared a few weeks ago.

Some of these features will have to be adapted to the real world in order to make the car suitable for the road.

The concept, for example, doesn’t have wing mirrors, but the production model will.

Cars – after all – do need wing mirrors.

The front section will remain largely the same, but the rear section doesn’t have a windshield, and that will also have to change.

The car is showcased in ‘Miami Pink’ or ‘London blue’.

The engine – par for the course – will be electric.

What’s going on with the brand?

For Jaguar, this is an all-in, make-or-break move.

A couple of weeks ago, just a few days after launching a new limited-edition E-Type, Jaguar announced a major rebranding with a new logo.

We’ve all seen the video and – let’s face it – we’ve all read the comments across social media.

But Jaguar is adamant this is the right move, and more to the point, they seem to believe that doing nothing would’ve been worse.

The good news is that we’ll learn whether it worked or not when the car is launched.

When it comes to these things, only one thing counts and that’s sales.

If the car sells, Jaguar will have been right, if it doesn’t – well, there are going to be some questions.

We’re just going to have to wait and see.

One thing is for certain, people are going to be talking about this car.
