James May paid another visit to Jay Leno’s garage, this time to have a look at his dream supercar, a Lamborghini Countach.

Unveiled in the 1970s, the Countach was one of the world’s first supercars.

And it’s also an icon.

But, as James explains, all that glitters is not gold.

This is why James May loves this car despite its flaws

James May paid yet another visit to Jay Leno’s garage in a new car-themed video uploaded to his YouTube channel, James May’s Planet Gin.

May and Leno have been friends for a long time, and May has visited Leno’s garage on several occasions.

This time, it was because he wanted to have a look at the car he had been dreaming about when he was a boy, a Lamborghini Countach LP500.

“Everybody had [a poster of this],” May said.

However, he also explained that this car is far from perfect.

“To be brutally honest, it’s an awful car to drive. It’s uncomfortable, noisy, [and] it’s not actually that fast by modern standards,” May said.

Even so, he still tried to buy it from Leno.

And failed.

When he asked Leno how much he wanted for it, Leno simply said he’ll ‘hang on to it’.

Arguably the second supercar ever made

The Countach is possibly the second supercar ever made.

Most people conventionally agree that the Miura – Leno also owns one of those – which was unveiled before the Countach, was the first-ever supercar.

The Countach was unveiled in 1974 to replace the Miura, and it checked the same boxes.

It was rare, expensive, powerful, extreme, and it looked great on a bedroom poster.

And it gave you a sense that it would be very difficult to buy one, and very exotic to own one.

And some believe that’s still the whole point of a supercar.
