The Acura NSX is, without question, one of the best supercars ever made.

Ever since its release in 1990, the NSX has wowed and captured the imagination.

Now, Japanese cops in Mie Prefecture are getting a slight upgrade.

Because a racing enthusiast has just donated one to the police force.

Where exactly is Mie Prefecture?

Whilst you probably don’t know the name, you will quickly recognize some of the things within it.

Mie Prefecture forms the eastern part of the Kii Peninsula.

It borders six different prefectures, including Kyoto.

The area is also known for being on the west side of Ise Bay in Japan.

But what it’s best known for, though, is motorsport.

Specifically, Mie Prefecture is home to Suzuka – the Honda-owned race circuit.

And that track has played host to the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix since 1987, with the exception of 2007, 2008, 2020, and 2021.

Mie Prefecture Cops get Acura NSX donation

Yesterday, the Mie Prefecture received its newest squad car for patrol duty.

However, it’s the most abnormal cop car that you’ll ever see.

Far from being a regular old Ford Crown Victoria, the department actually received an Acura NSX.

Yes, you read that right, the cops are now driving an actual Acura NSX.

The legendary supercar was donated by a 43-year-old man named Toshiya Kobayashi.

Kobayashi is, apparently, the owner of a real estate company, as well as a motorsport addict.

The NSX has been modified with the black-and-white livery of the local law enforcement department.

Reports suggest that the cost of the NSX and the modifications for the police comes to around $180,000.

In a delivery that was very cool, the car was officially inducted into the police in a ceremony at Suzuka.

Move over, Dubai – there’s new competition for the world’s coolest cop car.
