Jay Leno owns an incredibly rare Ford with a unique history.
It’s called the Ford Festiva Shogun, and it’s a car that’s so rare most people forgot about it.
It’s not super cheap, precisely because it’s rare.
And you’ll never guess where the engine is.

A rare Ford with an interesting story
Jay Leno often features interesting cars on his channel, but this is probably one of the most unusual we’ve seen so far.
Based on the Ford Festiva, a long-forgotten city car made in Korea (but sold globally), the Festiva Shogun looks like it just came out of a Japanese manga from the 1990s.
A pop culture icon, just like the Trueno.
Except for the fact that this is a lot rarer than the Trueno.

The original was powered by a 1.3-liter engine with just 70 horsepower, but for the Shogun variant, Ford decided to let its hair down.
The automaker replaced the puny four-cylinder engine with a Yamaha-built 3.0-liter V6 with 220 horsepower.
What makes this small city car even crazier is that the engine sits in the middle, like a Lamborghini Aventador or a Ferrari F430.

This car is super rare, but not super cheap.
“This car was about $42,000 in 1990, which was a lot of money,” Jay Leno said in his video.
“I think I paid 35 for mine.”
Jay Leno is the ultimate car guy

Some celebrities have car collections that are a little bit soulless.
Like they walked into a dealership, asked about the most expensive models available, and got one of each.
Jay Leno is not like that.
For starters, he doesn’t own a Ferrari, which is unusual for a car collector, but he does have a couple of valuable Lamborghinis.
He also owns a tank (yep) and a Ford Model T.
This explains why his car collection is so valuable, and also why, interestingly, it is the most googled car collection ever.
