Joby Aviation just unveiled the world’s first eVTOL air taxi at the 2025 Dubai Airshow.
Joby performed the Middle East’s first-ever public flight with its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi.
Essentially it’s like an Uber, but for the skies.
And this isn’t vaporware, this is a real product that’s set to launch next year.

Joby will revolutionize the way we travel from A to B
Built with carbon fiber, Joby is an air taxi that’s being used in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai.
It’ll soon be able to land at Dubai International Airport (DXB) because the Emirate is building its first vertiport.
We should also point out that DXB vertiport is the first location, but Dubai Mall, American University of Dubai and Atlantis the Royal have also been announced as the next three locations as part of Joby’s vertiport launch network.
Joby is very fast, with a top speed of 200MPH, and very quiet.
It’s about 100 times quieter than the average chopper, and of course cleaner because it’s a zero-emission vehicle.
It has 100 miles of range, which is perfect for the city.

The goal is to travel from A to B much faster than a cab
The vehicle Supercar Blondie’s Nathan Bain saw at Dubai Airshow is unlike anything else.
Powered by four independent battery packs and six propellers, Joby is designed to get you across town in a fraction of the time when compared to a ‘regular’ cab.
Inside, you’ve got seats for four passengers (plus a pilot), and room for luggage.
It’s safer than a helicopter, faster than an Uber and will only cost the same as an Uber Black.

Speaking of Uber, you’ll actually be able to book Joby with the Uber app.
A car will come to pick you up and bring you to the closest vertiport.
You’ll then hop on a Joby to take you to your destination.

After its Dubai launch in 2026, New York, Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo are next in line.
Joby has already flown more than 50,000 test miles since 2017 and is on track to carry its first paying passengers in 2026.
This is a potential game-changer for the transportation industry.
It’s quiet, fast, clean, and looks incredible, which is always an added bonus.
