The Audi R8 is one of the most beloved modern supercars ever made.
On its official release at the Paris Auto Show in September 2006, the R8 took the car world by storm.
Lauded for its road handling, as well as its engine – a 4.2 FSI V8 and later a 5.2 V10 FSI – the R8 was instantly revered as one of the finest cars Audi had ever put on the road.
And now, one YouTuber has got their hands on one of the most epic versions.

YouTuber Tyler Hoover, who runs the car channel Hoovies Garage, has managed to get his hands on an extremely cool car.
While in Scottsdale, Arizona, he was on the hunt for a cheap car and after doing some digging, he somehow stumbled upon a superhero spec car.
It happened to be the cheapest R8 in the United States.
Tyler explained that Audi built a halo car in order to stand out from the likes of BMW and Mercedes.

At $100,000 brand new, it was also much cheaper than a Ferrari F430.
This particular R8 is, as Tyler refers to it, the Iron Man spec R8.
With a beautiful silver finish and carbon side blades, the car also has a beautiful black interior.
Tyler’s R8 also had the R-tronic gear shifter, which wasn’t the best option.
Essentially, the first generation Audi R8 came with two different gearbox options.
The gated, 6-speed manual gearbox (which was also in the movie) was lauded for how easy and seamless it was to use.
The R-tronic semi-automatic gearbox was highly criticized for being clunky and not as effective.
This Audi does come with some issues
Tyler did acknowledge, however, just why he got such a good deal on this epic Audi.
As he would come to learn, there were quite a few issues with his new car.
To start with, there were some cosmetic issues.
Namely, somebody botched a paint job on the driver’s side and the paint had started peeling off.
Additionally, there were a few bumps and scrapes – as one might expect for a car of this age.
Aside from general wear and tear, the interior was in pretty good condition.
The only real concern was an oil leak beneath the car itself.
In spite of these issues, the car appeared to be very good value for money.
R8 roars on the road
When Tyler took the car for a spin, the 4.2 FSI V8 still sounded incredible.
Tyler said he was ‘absolutely in love’ with his new R8.
Tyler’s girlfriend, April, was even able to fit most of their weekend luggage into the front trunk – a good result for those who don’t think supercars can be practical.
Aside from small interior cosmetic issues (including wear on the gear shifter itself), Tyler and April were super happy with their new R8.

They were even able to deploy the rear wing, too.
He then pulls over to examine the service history, with over 45 service records from the local Audi dealership.
He learned it had been in one minor accident and required a transmission repair, as well as fuel injectors.
Overall, Tyler chalked his purchase of the Audi R8 up as a pretty solid win.
