Kansas YouTuber just turned a C5 Corvette into the ultimate winter toy by swapping wheels for tracks and skis

YouTuber Westen Champlin turned a C5 Corvette into the ‘ultimate winter toy’ with the help of some skis.

A big snowstorm was approaching Kansas, and Champlin wanted to turn his 1999 off-road Corvette into a snowmobile before it hit.

It was a little beaten up, but it still ran.

But how would it fare on icier ground?

Westen Champlin wanted to give this C5 Corvette the winter treatment

If there’s one thing you can count on Champlin for, it’s for him to do the unexpected.

He’s had his fair share of wild car projects over the years.

Remember the time he turned a living room couch into a V8 powered beast?

Or how about his mission to turbocharge a school bus that he bought off Facebook Marketplace?

And that’s not even getting into the backwards truck.

This time around, he was turning his C5 Corvette into a snowmobile…because why not, right?

To bring the ‘Vet-Ski’ to life, Champlin and his crew sourced some bolt-on vehicle snow tracks and fitted them onto the back of the vehicle, with skis up front.

Anticipating that it would move awkwardly on concrete, they dragged the ‘300hp snowmobile’ out to snowy ground.

It was time for a test drive.

How did this makeshift snowmobile fare out on the snow?

On the first test run, it moved surprisingly well, but a weld was broken on one side, making things a little wonky.

Interestingly, they found that an area with deeper snow made for a smoother ride – even if it did throw a lot of snow up at the driver.

Then they decided to test run it against a 1100hp TRX, where things got a lot bumpier.

It was all fun and games until the Corvette started overheating.

This was the point where they decided to call it a day.

“I don’t know why…I was driving it really easy,” he sarcastically remarked.

This was one memorable way to have fun in the snow.
