This Ferrari F8 Tributo was snapped up from Copart, and while it looked impeccable, the dash showed otherwise.

The impressive, shiny black supercar was in need of some serious mechanical help in order to be fighting fit, and these YouTubers had a huge task ahead of them.

From ordering parts, including a tire pressure monitor and even a seat control module, some elements needed lots of attention.

It wasn’t all bad, though, as one very excited gearhead got to take on the revamp project of a lifetime.

This Ferrari F8 Tributo looked in incredible condition

Over on the KY Auto channel, the guys are no strangers to buying and overhauling vehicles, and when this Ferrari F8 Tributo made its way to the garage, they couldn’t believe their eyes.

The Ferrari was bought from Copart, an online resale site, for a mere $266,000, which isn’t bad considering the car’s price generally ranges from $283,950–$306,450.

It looked pristine from the outside, with no visible body ailments or forklift damage, but the mechanical system told a different story.

It had 1,400 miles on it and turned on okay, but needed a complete once-over by a mechanic.

Twenty error codes came up on the car’s dashboard, which, let’s be honest, is not ideal in any circumstance, and meant that the gearheads had some serious work to do.

The electrical system failure, and twilight sensor failure lights were glowing, which wasn’t great news.

Enlisting the help of mechanic Joe, they managed to clear most of the error codes, but a few didn’t want to budge.

Next, they ran a water check and found some issues near the driver’s seat, which meant that the whole seat had to come out to be fixed.

There were corroded elements that needed to be sorted, and replacement parts were ordered and fitted, with the team sourcing them from overseas to keep costs down.

However, once they were in place, the car still showed issues with the system not programming or syncing.

The seat computer syncing was an issue, too, as it was from a different model.

After investigating further, it turned out that the culprit was a wire under the carpet in the body of the car, which was then subsequently able to be fixed.

But the story doesn’t end there.

The end result took its precious time

The steering also wasn’t working, and due to rising costs, they decided to send it to an actual Ferrari dealer to get to grips with the issue on the Ferrari F8 Tributo, but that took months.

After returning from a trip to the dealer, the car was ready and raring to go, but it was time to crunch the numbers and figure out how much the Ferrari F8 Tributo had really cost the team.

After spending $259,390 on the car alone, the creator’s bank account was set to be hurt even more.

A further $3,000 was spent on transporting the car, and $2,000 on labor.

Parts came to $2,500, and the detailing at the dealership also put him $14,000 out of pocket. This brought the total to $280,890.

The YouTuber then went on to explain that the retail price should be $432,996; however, they were selling it for $325,000, revealing the contribution margin to be $40,000.

It wasn’t all bad, however, as he got to keep the Ferrari in his garage and show it off personally to prospective buyers.

Would you take a chance on a Copart car? It seems the gamble paid off in this case.
